icey

icey covered wires in the backyard this morning.
one thing I won't miss if, I mean,
when we ever move.
floppy branches and icey wires.

sunday random thoughts

i thought it was a good idea to let the blog writing just flow, and just concentrate on that for a while. now i see that maybe i've been neglecting all those cool little do-dads there on the right side. new features they say. when i switched the blogs over to the new google, things shifted and when i made changes to one blog, it universally applied changes to my other blog -- the one with the kids artwork... {not much there yet.} i have to figure the new features out. i remember writing alot along the side for the profile. it changed a few times while i got comfortable with blogger. so many more options than livejournal had. but when i tweaked the kidart one, this one was left with "...we all love to doodle..." ?? uh, well that's not all of it. ok well. more tweaking later i guess.

i thought it was a good idea to sign-up for the AC Moore email coupon. oh! yes it is. but now I'm there every week. with my coupon in hand. my local store knows me. the other day i was sure i saw the floor tiles in the rubber stamp aisle, directly in front of the Rhonna Farrer stamps, showing a bit of wear, did I do that? hmm.

$1.00 at AC Moore...a 4x6 album --- it has a soft, soft smooth cover, almost feels like suede, magnetic closure, could be just the perfect size for a little valentine scrapbook. ...channeling donna downey.

Work and Play

Trying to get some stuff done on Friday with a little, busy, curious, monkey boy who's 3. Who happens to only want to consume peanut butter and cheesy crackers, though not at the same time. Who's new thing is to throw the peanut butter jar accross the kitchen, it doesn't break, like everything else he trys to throw, so he thinks its cool. I suspect. Who's idea of potty training means needing to take every piece of clothing off, even socks. Even though you don't actually stay on the potty long enough to count, we need to celebrate with m&m candies. Only the green ones. Only after you put them in a neat row. When you finally decide its okay to put all your clothes back on we try to watch a favorite dvd. Yelling very loudly "We Need Curious George!!" doesn't help mommy find the dvd faster. And just incase you missed the good parts, we need to loop it all afternoon while you play with legos, not really paying any mind to the dvd, just want it on. Just because you saw Curious George sliding on a toy car doesn't mean you have to try it too, does it?

So I didn't get much done with a gift album I'm working on, but I took pictures while not getting much done. With little guy's assistance. Pity we often wish the terrible two's and three's etc would hurry.....but its days like this, memories like this that I know will someday be such a treasure. So I have to write it down.

He's so darn cute and loveable.
A zippy, zingy, curious, accident prone, naughty, little loveable monkey.

{Yep, that's a toy car under his foot}

2007

This will be the first post of the new year! Happy New Year!

And to begin...why these two pictures are so precious to me in this moment.

I normally don't make resolutions like "lose weight" and "eat healthier", though I should,but this year there are few things that I would like to stick to. One of them is the defeat of the clutter monster that has taken up residency in our house. I actually started this process at the end of last summer and little by little boxes get carted out, clothese get packed up and donated, so I know I can do it. But I still have such a hard time parting with some stuff. Even though I know if I haven't used it in like a gazillion years its time for it to go. Its still not in my nature to just chuck it. The challenge here, every year, is that I have to make room for all the "new" stuff from the holidays and after christmas is the time to purge. Right? oooh, so many other things I'd rather be doing. But it will get done.

The night of new year's eve I really had a wonderful thought to post -- but family life and the seemingly round the clock calls for "mommy" interferred. We have been used to staying at home with the kids and watching movies and just having fun until they crash around 10:30 or so. Naturally the "baby" who is now 3, so maybe not so much a baby anymore, sees big sibs wrestling on the couch at 11pm and he has no desire to go to sleep. Okay so the excitment of staying up waay past bedtime was there and then -- fireworks --- "but mom, its not July 4th?"

Since they have always crashed before midnight this was the first year they were up to watch -- we can see the local fireworks from our living room window {or out in the yard, but it was wet}-- it was darling to watch the three little bobbing heads looking up at the sky from the windows. Everyone was up past midnight, my husband and I realized that the years of settling down to a grown-up movie and a few hours of quiet time leading up to champagne & midnight snuggling might be over, for a while, until they hit the teen years and want to go out with their friends {sob. I'll deal with that when it gets here.}

I'll just enjoy 2007 for now. one year at a time. one day at a time. :)

Watercolor thank you

Still enjoying the watercolor for card makers class. Since I wasn't able to follow along each day I'm still busy practicing some of...
